Supersonic…

3 days in JulyOn the weekend of the 11th of July the Custard Factory is the venue for the venerable Supersonic Festival which is run by some very good friends of Ideal. It does take up the entire site from Friday to Sunday so access to the ramp and store is going to be limited to folks attending the event itself. In respect to this Ideal is proud to announce that we can offer 10 Supersonic weekend passes at £30 rather than the full £65 - thats for all 3 days. Friday/Saturday/Sunday. This offer is open to skaters only, no blaggers!

Playing this year Toronto hardcore saviours Fucked Up, Warps supergroup Battles, the four-headed hideous beast that is Beestung Lips and Athens Georgia’s seismic sludge titans Harvey Milk to name but a few, plus exhibitions/cake/films and record stall and of course the mighty our new megamini ramp.

This is going to be an amazing event so if you want to see some amazing bands and also get to skate an amazing ramp then drop by the store and hook a ticket up…..

Also, we are going to be opening up membership to the megamini as of next weekend. If you want to join then get two passport sized photographs together and drop them in at the store on corporation street and fill out the waiver. No money necessary. The sooner you do it…the sooner you skate. no membership, no skate. [it’s an insurance thing].

So far….

all dust....Things are moving on at the ‘new spot’. Just thought i’d update and let you all know that we should be all done with the ramp build in two weeks. It’s all looking good and it’s only going to get a whole lot better. Will keep updating right here as we progress toward completion. So keep ‘em open.

And another thing, the Dawberry bowl is now finished! It got a skating on Friday and reports were positive. ‘I’ll take everything all at once please’..!
Also got yet more SB’s in stock so if your feet need a new cover then check out the store here.

Yeah perry!!

Kastan would be proud...‘What the hell’. It’s the end of the day and B. Dogg rolls up, amped and loving the DC Quad he picked up off us last week. Figured that it would be good to get a photo of me Z, and B with our respective SE rigs. Just like the big kids we all are. Ain’t much like news but it makes me smile….
But on proper ‘news’, we do have the Nike SB Dunks in the Lobster colourway in today…You want? You buy!!

Gas and air…! /// Or The smile behind the mask.

Bongo! No real news on our move to the Custard Factory as yet. We are waiting ‘oh so patiently’ for the current tenants of the ramp space to move their junk, then the timber can be delivered and then we start building the ramp and, once that is done, we open the new version of Ideal. This all sounds so easy but we are already a month late due to some really boring, lead footed procrastination that is beyond our control. So please be patient and bear with us during these frustrating times as we will make it more than worth your while.

On a slightly more upbeat note, at the top of the photo above is the Dawberry fields bowl midway through constuction. Z got in touch with the project architect this morning and was told that the firm responsible are expected to finish the transitions sometime this week.

Which will be nice.

Below that picture is Neil Bailey who, even, when caught in a prone position gives it a thumbs up anyways. He took a knock to his noggin at Kings Norton last week which involved a visit by the paramedics and a few days on the couch recuperating listening to sludge metal. But how will he know that the headache has eased up then?

My guess is never..!

And another thing….as of today I am going to be starting Ideals own Kris Vile watch. We don’t get to see the little guy any more so If you spot any footy or photos of K. Vizzle on t’ web, please send a link to info@idealbirmingham.co.uk and we’ll post them up. This one for starters. [scroll down on left side window for pyjama shots].

It’s a P.C. World……..

titleA bit of a shock in the store today. An old compadre has returned unannounced from the deepest, darkest jungles of Borneo. Paul Clenton, A.K.A. Biffa is back on our shores after settling in Taipei for several years where he ran his own language school.
He has always been fascinated by the colour ginger and spent the last 6 months or so taking care of orangutans in Borneo.

So anyway, we thought he was gone for good, but no….He’s back. Which is strangely good. Looking forward to some mental torment that has been missing in his absence…..

Also pictured are Ben Corke and M.D. Who paid us a visit to stock up on goods before their mammoth tour of France, in a motor home, with their crew and John Veich. Could be chaotic. And, it turns out that John has already volunteered to empty the chemical toilet everyday…that guy is weird….The very best of luck to you guys…They should return just in time for the completion of the mega-mini ramp….
